We're back in Seattle!

Hi there, dancing friends,

Yes, we're back in Seattle again, settled into our sweet home in Shoreline. It's great to be back in close proximity to our son Linus, the Richardson side of the family, and so many close friends, many of whom are dancers, too.

We've also rejoined the Savoy Swing Performance Troupe, led by Guy Caridi.  And we're helping out with Jodi's productions and classes at Left Foot Boogie.  So look for us dancing around the Seattle area, and we'll add new pictures soon.

Affectionately, Margot and Mark

Cherry Days Paonia - learn the Shim Sham!

Hey, dancing friends,
This is a good version of the classic Shim Sham routine for Lindy Hoppers.
We'll be demonstrating it and teaching it at Cherry Days, in Paonia Park on July 5th.
Come give it a whirl!

Note: everybody seems to do it slightly differently; this version is pretty faithful to Frankie's.
Enjoy!

Tantalizing Tango ! This week at the Blue Sage
Thursday Tango classes continue with Danica, a great opportunity to learn this unique, sensual dance form
6 - 8 pm Upstairs in the Blue Sage apartment.
Argentine tango with classic form, flavor and music.  $10 per 2 hour class. The focus of the lessons will be our own bodies and where and how we are in them, then bring that together with a partner to move together. Understanding and appreciating the richness of tango music will also be prominent. The lesson will be an hour and a half with half an hour of music and an open question/help time.
Danica began tango in 2005 and was so impelled by it that she dedicated herself to it full time from the first lesson on. She relocated to Berlin, where she danced every night, took lessons and quickly began teaching. After a few years she felt ready to relocate to Buenos Aires, where she danced her heart out but didn't stay. Now she's living in Hotchkiss and thrilled to help develop a tango community in the North Fork! Please contact her with any questions or for private lessons at danicatango@gmail.com   Tango is an amazing mirror of life, and a never ending development. We look forward to sharing the experience on Thursdays!

A 1, a 2, you know what to do!
We had a lot of fun at our Carbondale Lindy Hop Playshop, sharing some classic Frankie moves with the dancers.
Thanks, Ana, Mary, Susan and Dave for joining us on this dance adventure!

The North Fork Valley revels in the Dusty 45s performance:
Dawn Reeder, a big Paonia fan of the band says “I loved that show they did at the Blue Sage in January, because every song was danceable, and everyone had room to dance. Those musicians are world class performers. And so much complex sound coming from 4 guys, I couldn't believe it!
They were super engaged with the audience, very friendly and funny.
They seemed to play harder the harder we danced (and)
it seemed like nobody wanted to leave at the end of the dance, including the band!
I loved the evening. The best and funnest live music that I've seen in Paonia in the 14 years that I've lived here. Thank you so much for bringing them back. I can't wait!”

And here's a sample of their music. Memorial Hall, Friday May 2nd, come on out and dance!
